Born and raised in Kokomo, Indiana, McCann has built a career as one of the state\u2019s most seasoned and tested prosecutors, aggressively pursuing justice for victims of murder, violent crime, drug trafficking, and other major felony offenses.<\/p>\n<p>After earning his Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University in 1986 and his Juris Doctor from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1990, McCann was admitted to the Indiana Bar, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, 1990, United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and United States\u00a0Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>Immediately after law school, he entered public service as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Howard County (1990\u20131994), later becoming Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney (1995\u20132010), and ultimately elected Prosecuting Attorney in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Today, McCann leads a team of 32 professionals\u2014including attorneys, investigators, and staff\u2014who share his unwavering commitment to holding criminals accountable and protecting Howard County families. Over the years, he has successfully prosecuted some of the county\u2019s most complex and high-profile criminal cases.<\/p>\n<p>McCann\u2019s service goes beyond the courtroom. He has played a critical role in supporting Howard County\u2019s problem-solving courts, including Drug Court, Veteran Court, and Mental Health Court, helping ensure accountability, encourage rehabilitation where appropriate, and strengthen public safety initiatives. He remains an active voice in promoting smart justice reforms while staying tough on violent crime.<\/p>\n<p>McCann\u2019s leadership is recognized at both the local and national levels.
